Pyramids
Written and illustrated by Mindaugas Silinskis
It’s Monday morning, 8:30 in the morning. After snoozing her alarm for three times, Luisa is finally up.
She could have definitely slept for another hour as she went to bed at about 1:00 A.M. last night. However, she has a History class online at 8:45.
“It’s OK”, she thought. “I’ll take a nap in the afternoon.”
She takes her tablet, checks if it’s charged, puts on her headphones and then, goes back to bed.
“I love quarantine”, she smiles.
Luisa places the tablet on the night table next to the bed and logs in to her school’s online study platform. “I am ready to go.”
Mr. Silva, the History teacher has always been exceptional and excellent at teaching the subject. Today he’s introducing the ancient history of Egypt.
“This is going to be interesting”, thinks Luisa and lies her head on the pillow.
“So, my dear students, firstly, let’s look at the Pyramids. Archaeologists believe Egypt’s pyramids were built between 2589 and 2504 BC. Now, here is the question – How did Egyptian build the pyramids? Well, the Egyptian… Mystery… Pyramids, pyramids, pyramids, pyramids…"
Luisa sits down in her bed and looks out of the window. She can’t believe what she sees. All the buildings are gone and instead, there are three beautiful giant shiny pyramids. They have huge windows and elevators. Luisa sees a big crowd of people, and they are all wearing white surgical masks and dancing. But she can’t hear the music. “Wow, this is incredible! I have to go there…”
Suddenly she hears a knocking at the door. “Is that Mom?”
“Luisa! Luisa! Are you coming down? Lunch is ready!”
Luisa opens her eyes.
“Lunch? Pyramids…”
